Yesterday, we completed day two of Attune ‘22, and once again, we were blown away by the knowledge shared by and with professional communicators and HR leaders that went on throughout the day. Let’s take a quick look at what went on…
Keynote from Tony-nominated actress & Deaf superhero, Lauren Ridloff
Lauren Ridloff made her TV debut on the AMC series, The Walking Dead, and then starred as the first Deaf superhero in Marvel’s Eternals… and now she’s here at Attune with her keynote, How I Found The Language of Courage. Lauren shared her life story by sharing the big ideas of her journey: taking risks and making tons of mistakes, learning how to communicate, finding her community, and ultimately finding the language of courage. Her story of preparing for her first marathon, supporting PS 347—the first dual ASL/English public school—inspired us all!
Workshops
Jason Anthoine from Audacity presented the first workshop of the day, titled Farming vs. Hunting: How to Sell Your IC Strategies and Tactics, where he discussed how even the best communicators could use some assistance in convincing stakeholders to buy your ideas, strategies, and tactics for reaching every employee.
In the second workshop of the day, Cindy Crescenzo and Steve Crescenzo from Crescenzo Communications presented The Seven Deadly Sins of Employee Communications, where they discussed how over 25 years of employee communications training, they have seen the same mistakes made over and over again.
Breakout sessions
Breakout sessions led by communication professionals throughout the day featured how comms is partnering deep inside organizations to provide employees what they want—a great employee experience! From podcasting to customer service to collaboration, everyone worked hard to cover it all.
Giving back
To close out Attune this year, Firstup partnered with WCF Events to develop and sponsor a program to build care packages for those in need around the Chicagoland area. Summit attendees assembled backpacks full of school supplies as well as care packages for active-duty military, and we met our goal of filling them all!
And that’s a wrap! Attune ‘22 is in the books, and now it’s time to head home to start implementing everything we learned. Thank you to everyone who made Attune ‘22 a huge success, and we are already looking forward to seeing you all next year. Happy communicating!
Weren’t able to attend Attune this year? Want to rewatch your favorite session? Don’t worry—we recorded everything! We will notify everyone when they are ready to watch on-demand, so stay tuned!
