Day one of Attune '22 is in the books; and since it ended with some Bollywood dancing, we don't think it's one that will be soon forgotten.

Yesterday was a whirlwind of activity, as day one of Attune ‘22 kicked off! Communicators, HR leaders, and technologists all gathered in Chicago to discuss The Science of Engagement… and did they ever!

Let’s take a look at some of the exciting discussions we all learned from today and are ready to take back to our organizations to start implementing!

Firstup Addresses the Employee Digital Overload Crisis With New Data-Driven Enhancements

On Wednesday, Firstup CEO and founder Nicole Alvino unveiled Firstup platform enhancements designed to help employers build a more sustainable workforce by reducing the level of noise bombarding employees daily and deliver meaningful, personalized communication at scale.

Opening keynote from New York Times bestselling author Jon Acuff

Jon Acuff, author of Soundtracks: The Surprising Solution to Overthinking, started off Attune ‘22 with Soundtracks: How the Best Teams Overcome Overthinking to Navigate Change, Increase Productivity, and Win Consistently. In it, he explained how overthinking is the sneakiest form of fear and discussed how to retire broken soundtracks (repetitive thoughts) that have been holding you back, how to replace them with new ones that move you forward, and how to repeat them so they become as automatic as those old broken ones.

Workshops

Throughout the day, we had opportunities to take part in a wide range of workshops, including Crafting a kickass onboarding program with Brittany Barhite, Rey Bouknight, and Kyla Shea from Firstup, Get in communicators, we’re building community with Kristin Hancock of ICology, and The Pfhew factor: Preparing for events, with Julia Aronov and Pinaki Kathiari of Local Wisdom.

Breakout sessions

Getting even more granular, breakout sessions covering onboarding, diversity, equity, and inclusion, employee engagement, surviving event planning, storytelling, trust, and the brain-changing science of gratitude were held all day long, being led by amazing speakers from some of the world’s biggest brands.

Closing keynote from collaboration expert & bestselling author Erica Dhawan

Digital Body Language: Collaborate Faster and Further, Together by Erica Dhawan taught us so much about the common-sense rules of effective communication on digital teams, and the nuances of Digital Body Language that will help your teams innovate faster and further together. We learned how to understand our collaboration style (and what digital body language signals we may be broadcasting!), how to ensure clarity across all comms channels, and how to develop collaboration strategies that work across all teams and relationships. Plus… we did some Bollywood dancing!
